Raymond “Dan” Schuckel, 81 of New Haven, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024.
He was born in Fort Wayne on January 2, 1943 to the late Raymond B. and Edna (Dean) Schuckel.
Mr. Schuckel answered his country’s call and honorably served in the United States Navy.
On February 5, 1966 he married the love of his life, Denise Scharffbillig at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Dan retired from Benteler as a Tool Maker.
Dan was a lifetime member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Haven. He was also a member of the American Legion and a Charter Member of the Canal Cruzers Car Club. Dan will always be remembered as an avid outdoors and sportsman. He will always be known for his kindness and generosity.
He is survived by his children, Diane (Steven) Rorick and David Schuckel; grandchildren, Jennifer (Chad) Zurbrugg, Joseph Rorick, Anthony Schuckel, Adam Schuckel, Carmen Schuckel, and Luke Schuckel; and four great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were his wife, Denise; and siblings, Barb Harper, Marilyn Pemberton, and Jane Schuckel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church 943 Powers Street, New Haven with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be Friday, March 15, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne.
Memorials may be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or masses in remembrance of Raymond.

Dan was a great guy to work with and I enjoyed the hunting trips we shared.He was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed one.

I learned a lot from Dan working with him at Benteler he was always willing to share his knowledge. He will be missed.
So sorry for your loss. Dan was such a good friend to our family. He will be missed. I am so glad to have been able to join Dan and David along with my dad (Ed) and others on one of their deer hunting trips to Wyoming. Dan so graciously included everyone in everything, including the work!
Fly high and in the arms of Angels! Sure Denise was awaiting you❤️known Dan since 1961 wonder caring man all his life a man who believed in God,Family and his Country ! He looked so nice in his Navy whites remember that well! A gentleman to the end but some neat memories Dan you will be missed and remembered with wonderful memories by so many!
