Obituary
Phyllis Ann Hamrick, age 81, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at her home, surrounded by family. Born on March 4, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Robert W. and Mary Catherine (Gage) Stoll. After high school, she worked at International Harvester for almost 10 years. On October 16, 1968, Phyllis married the love of her life, James Jay Hamrick. Together, they spent the next 55 years building a life in Fort Wayne and watching their family grow. Phyllis was dedicated to raising her children. She also loved being a grandmother and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She was very sociable and loved to talk to everyone. She truly never met a stranger and could engage with anyone. She enjoyed posting on Facebook, sometimes to her family’s dismay, as Phyllis was truly a trusting soul. Faith was important to Phyllis. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a former past president of the Rosary Society. She will be deeply missed by family and friends alike. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, sons, Scott (Mary Lynn) and Robert Hamrick both of Fort Wayne; daughters, Leanne (Tom) Ford of Warsaw, IN and Kellie Hamrick of Penn Valley, PA; and grandchildren, Candon, Kelly, and Luke Ford, and Cat and Sammie Hamrick. Phyllis was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Hamrick; her parents; and brother, Larry Stoll. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 East Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, with a Rosary beginning at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials can be written to the Parkview Cancer Institute through the Parkview Foundations Transformative Cancer Care Fund (TCCF), Parkview Home Hospice, or for Mass Intentions.

Sending our deepest sympathies for your loss. May your memories of this wonderful woman who loved her family above all bring you comfort and peace.
She always made me laugh, great sense of humor and lots of fun. Thought and prayers🙏🏼🙏🏼❤❤ (Have a beer with mom.)
Thinking of you, your mom, and your family. Truly sorry for your loss and may you find some comfort in special memories.
I want to express my sympathy as my mother Colette furge buck was good friends with Mary Catherine
Stoll, possibly at morell motors in Fort Wayne. So many times I read the names and think back to the
Friendships both my parents acquired in their lifetime and am hoping this sounds familiar to your family.
Janice, I don’t recognize the name but it sounds right. Grandma always talked about Morrell Motors and she was the type of person that became instant friends with anyone she met.
That was so nice of you to reply back to me. My mom and dad both had
Many friends throughout their lifetime and those names and memories
Continue to be remembered by me.
Iris and John August were good friends and I have kept up with them thru Morill motors and I will write
To their connection and let them know as well.
One more thought, I was four years old when mom worked there and I
Told people mommy worked at motorboat and daddy at General Electric.
How is that for cuteness from a young child. God bless you.
A Memorial Tree was ordered on April 17, 2024
