Obituary
Patricia L. Kelly, 86, of Fort Wayne, passed away Sunday March 26, 2023 at St. Anne Home. Patty was born in Fort Wayne on September 27, 1936, to Cletus and Dorothy (Urbine) Junk, both deceased. She graduated from Central Catholic High School with the Class of ’54 and then earned her Nursing Degree at St. Mary’s College in South Bend. On April 6, 1957, Patty married Lawrence Kelly, who preceded her in death on February 27, 2015, after 57 years of marriage. Patty retired as a Registered Nurse, working at The Townhouse for 20 years and also Golden Years for 10 years. She was a charter member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and was steadfast in her faith, rarely missing daily Mass. She was a member of the Rosary Sodality and Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of Columbus #451. As the mother of ten children, including seven sons, prayer was always her support system. She was a “coupon fanatic” who also enjoyed reading, travelling, and trying her luck at an occasional visit to the casino, playing the “penny slots”. Patty is survived by her children; daughters Kathy (Frank) Fisher of Leo, Peggy (Mike) Miedlar of Huber Heights OH and Molly (Terry) Lehman of Ft. Wayne; sons, Terry (Kathryn) Kelly of Durham NC, Shawn (Kim) Kelly of Carmel, and Kevin (Brenda) Kelly, Michael (Lisa) Kelly, Larry (Tina) Kelly and Brendon (Roya) Kelly, all of Fort Wayne; sisters, Eleanor (Richard) McBride of The Villages FL, Janet Peden and Nancy (Pat) Murphy, both of Fort Wayne, and sister-in-law Sharon Junk of Avilla; 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Patty was also preceded in death by a son, Tim Kelly and brothers, Donny Junk and Gerry Junk, brother-in-law Mike Peden, sister-in-law Karen Junk, and niece Jessica Murphy. Mass of Christian Resurrection 10:30am Tuesday April 11, 2023 in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Rd, Ft Wayne IN 46815, with visitation from 9:30-10:30 in the church. Visitation also from 5-8pm on Monday April 10, 2023 in Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave, with the Rosary recited at 4:30pm. Interment in Catholic Cemetery. The family’s preferred memorial is St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

Nancy, I am so sorry to hear about Patty’s death. She was such a nice lady. I first met her years ago in a “couponing” club and then found out we were both St. Charles members. Whenever I saw her at Church or the many times I ran into her at stores in our area, she always talked with me. I’m sure your extended family will miss her very much.

Cathy, Frank and family, So sorry to hear of your Mother’s passing. Whenever I was at morning Mass at St Charles she was always there. A very faithfilled lady.
