To all the Schon’s, What a great woman, mom and 2nd mom to all of us that hung out at the Schon house!! She was always welcoming, inviting and wanted to sit and talk to us. She was such a great listener and allowed us to have fun! Great times and memories for all of us at Q of A! Much love and appreciation to all of you!
Just want to send our condolences to all you Schons. You were such fun neighbors in the days when we lived on Putnam Street. Mary was a sweetheart! Hope you are all staying safe in these crazy times! Sue and John Langas
Oh Mary my buddy how I am gonna miss all the fun we had together and the laughs and the funny snapchat pictures. I know you are in a better place. I pray for your family. Fly high Mary.
My condolences to the family. Mary Ellen had many friends and colleagues who so enjoyed her, mother, in particular, who was the secretary at St. Charles. They were great friends and shared a similar sense of humor. I also had the pleasure of knowing and working with her. She was hilarious, and I remember her fondly. She joins my mom and a host of other SC friends for a reunion in heaven, where they will chuckle and say once again, “Lead on, Oh Kinky Turtle.”
So sorry to hear about your mother Tom (and Judy). May God give you and your family peace and strength, now, and the days ahead. Bill Bentley
Mrs. Schon was my teacher at St. Charles Borromeo, and she was my favorite. Every time I’d say “Good morning, Mrs. Schon” she’d answer with “And it is!” And every day, on the chalkboard, she’d put up the “word of the day” – I loved it – she even let me contribute one, “discombobulated” – I was so proud – she always nurtured my fascination with words, and I credit this early influence for fueling my desire to earn my Masters degree in English, which I did in 2008 from a Catholic university in Los Angeles. Rest in earned peace, dear lady – I haven’t forgotten you after all these years, and never will.
Knowing Mary Ellen was a great joy to me! I learned so much from her as a new sixth grade teacher at St. Charles. Her good humor and common sense made every day an adventure and I loved it and loved her. Tales about her kids were the order of the day in the lunch room! May her family rejoice in her goodness as they mourn their loss.
Your family is in my thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time. I taught at St. Charles with Mary Ellen, only for 3-4 years, and I loved her!!! She was an AMAZING teacher with a beautiful sense of humor! Not only did her fellow teachers love and respect her, but so did her students! She will always be remembered by so many. But Mary Ellen is now in heaven at peace. And I bet she is bringing smiles to many of those saintly friends.
On behalf of my mother, Ruthella Kramer, we would like to extend our sympathy to Marty and all of the Schon family. Marty and I went to Queen of Angels school together, and we will always remember Mrs. Schon as a very friendly lady who always smiled. May she rest in peace…
Keenan, I am sorry to read about your grandmother’s death. You and your family are in my prayers. Yesterday I was looking through class pictures from Most Precious Blood.
Feeling blessed to have had MaryEllen as part of my life. This wonderful woman was co-worker, mentor and always the voice of reason. So many memories: none better than our 10 ? 11? 12 hour talk-a-thons , complete with good food, intelligent conversation and much laughter. I’ll miss her friendship but know that now she has moved on to a paradise we can only imagine. She’s free and happy and enjoying the rewards of a well- lived life. Well done, dear friend. Rest In Peace.
I had the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Schon through my job. She was very nice lady loved her to pieces. Mary and I had one thing in common which was our faith and she was just a great person to be around. Pray for Family and Friends
My condolences to the family. I worked with Mary Ellen and my chidden had her. She was a great teacher and colleague. May she Rest In Peace,
My sympathy to all the family of Mary Ellen. I was privileged to be part of the faculty at St. Charles with Mary Ellen. So enjoyed her sense of humor and wisdom. My children were lucky enough to have her as a teacher. One year when she was teaching adjectives, she put one on the board for everyone of her students and they had to guess which one was theirs. Our daughter picked hers out right away. It was “Happy”. Her response was it was easy to pick out the word because you were always happy when you were in her room. Beside her students she was very proud of her own children. We heard many outstanding stories about you all. She has earn her place in paradise. May she rest in piece. God bless you all.
