Obituary
Mary L Nist, 80, of Fort Wayne, died peacefully at home, November 6, 2020. Mary was born June 8, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Harold and Lauretta Holmes. She married the love of her life, Richard Joseph Nist, in 1961 and enjoyed 47 years together celebrating and sharing their faith and love. Mary was a resident of StoryPoint Fort Wayne and recently celebrated the marriage of her granddaughter and new grandson while surrounded by family and friends. The party lasted into the late hours and she danced and celebrated with the best of us! She lived in many places but always found friends who more often than not became family. Mary enjoyed shopping, a glass wine (or two), and welcomed everyone with a smile. However, the joy of her life was her children and grandchildren. Mary is survived by her children; Cheryl (Craig) Klinker of Fort Wayne, IN, Kim (Chris) Chubbuck of Macedonia, OH, Scott (Michelle) Nist of Hartland, MI and Michelle (Jason) Moorman of Brentwood, CA; grandchildren, Lindsay Klinker, Chelsea (Theodore) Huff, Joey and Cassidy Klinker, Tyler, Zachary and Hunter Chubbuck, Alexandr, Max, Grayce and Katy Nist, Brinley, Trevor and Caleb Moorman; brothers, Tom (Heidi) Holmes and Ted (Judy) Holmes; sisters, Ruth (Bill) Bielek and Theresa (Joe) Parente and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her devoted husband Richard Joseph Nist, daughter, Diana Mary Nist and brother, Fr. Jack Holmes. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 am, Friday, November 13, 2020 at Saint Vincent Catholic Church, 1502 Wallen Rd with calling one hour prior. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 12, 2020, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, with the rosary recited at 3:30 pm. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Cincinnati, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to: The Oratory of St. Mary Magdalene or St Jude Children's Hospital

Angels come in many forms and when I see the photo of Mary I see one of them. She is truly an angel and I am so blessed to have known her during my time on earth. She will be missed, but I know we will see her again. Mary was a wonderful friend, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and more. I will never forget all that she and Dick have done for me and my family and wish I could pay my respects in person. Please know she will be remembered in my heart and you all have my deepest sympathy. Love, Mike

Thinking of you and and wishing you peace and comfort as you remember your mom.
My Sincere Condolences.
Mrs. Costa.
My deepest sympathies to Mary’s family and friends. She was such a sweet lady and I will truly miss talking to her in the mornings at StoryPoint. She was truly an elegant lady and so refined in the clothes she wore. I used to tease her about shopping at Talbots and her response was “I love that store.” She came down to the front receptionist desk when she got her dress for her granddaughter’s wedding and was so excited to show it to me. I told her that she was going to steal the show wearing it. On Wednesday we talked about how she wanted to show me her pictures of the wedding but sadly I never got to see how beautiful she looked in her dress. May God’s loving arms comfort the family at this time and wrap His love around them.
We are so sorry for your loss. Mary was a wonderful woman who was so full of life and joy. We are thinking of all of her family and friends and sending strength and hugs from California.

Mary was the sweetest, most generous woman I knew. She and Dick became such dear friends over the years and I feel honored to have known them. Mary showed me what a perfect mother and wife looked like in so many ways. I will miss her so much but am happy she is with her sweetheart again.
