Obituary
Mary Margaret Daley passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family, caregivers and hospice. Born in Chicago in 1954, she remained fiercely loyal to family, lifelong friends, coworkers, patients and to her high standards for honesty and compassion for others. She graduated from St. Ferdinand's grade school, Sacred Heart Academy, Chicago, College of St Teresa, Winona MN with a Bachelors in Nursing degree, completing her clinical nursing training at Mayo Clinic, Rochester,MN; post graduate studies in Nursing Oncology MSN at Harvard's Dana Farber Institute, Loyola University and Rush University, Chicago. Mary Margaret was Director of Oncology Nursing, Columbus Hospital, Chicago when her trajectory in life changed dramatically by astrocytoma in 1992. Her enduring legacy is how to experience joy, peace and happiness despite painfully disabling setbacks. She touched many in her life and no one can ever recall her uttering a complaint about her illness. She wore a colorful bandanna over surgical scars with pizazz and elan. Left to remember her love and passionate and joyful participation in life are siblings John, Patrick (Lisa), Colleen, Kathleen(Drew), Tom (Darcey), many nieces and nephews and innumerable friends. She was preceded in death by parents John and Evelyn, brother Joseph and sister-in-law, Nan. Her family is planning a memorial mass and celebration of her life in Spring, 2019 at Mary Seat of Wisdom Park Ridge IL.
