Margaret “Marge”
Megles-Norris
Obituary
Margaret “Marge” Megles-Norris, age 94, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Lutheran Life Villages at Inverness Lakes. Born on November 3, 1929, in Cokeburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Niscak) Shepelak. Marge spent her youth in Bentleyville, PA and moved to Fort Wayne to be close to her brother and employment opportunites. She worked as a bookkeeper for Marsh’s grocery store for over 20 years. After retiring from Marsh’s, she worked for Maloley’s and People’s Trust Bank. When not working, Marge enjoyed gardening, often canning and freezing vegetables from her garden. She was a good cook and excelled at baking. Marge also enjoyed reading, playing board games and cards, traveling, fishing, and bowling. She even bowled in a league while living in Florida. Most of all, she enjoyed being a grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marge will be remembered for her great sense of humor, which she kept even in her last years. The absence of “Marge in Charge” will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Laura (Ryland) Taliaferro, Jim (Kath Botteron) Megles, and Ed (Tammy) Megles; son-in-law, David Bierbaum; sister-in-law, Dorothy Megles; six stepchildren; grandchildren, Josh (Natalie) Megles, Jordan Megles, Carson Megles, Greg (Betsy) Bierbaum, Amy (Chris) Morris, and Tolly Taliaferro; great-grandchildren, Elliott, Liam, Zac, Callum, and Nonie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marge was preceded in death by her husbands, Elmer “Moe” Megles and Bill Norris; daughter, Linda Bierbaum; brothers, Mike, Andy, Ben, Joe, and Steve Shepelak; sister, Helene Smith; her parents; and brother-in-law Joseph Megles. The family would like to thank in abundance the care and love she received from the staff at Lutheran Life Villages at Inverness and Eleos Hospice Care. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805 with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Marge will be laid to rest at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Marge taught me to make gravy and every Thanksgiving and Christmas I remember her instructions–i get it right about 30% of the time. Thank you Marge for trying !! Thank you for having such amazing children.
Ed, Jim, and Laura,
My sincerest condolences. Your mom was a good woman. She was always smiling and laughing. Seeing her photo just warmed my heart.
I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers in the upcoming weeks. It is hard to say goodbye.💕
Megles Family we are rejoicing with you in the next phase of your beloved mothers journey. She was so lucky to have you beside her for this part of her journey. Peace and love from Clancy QUIGLEY Family
Meg and Ty, once again looking for your contact information Meg, I came across your Mom’s obituary. It sounds like your Mom had a wonderful full life of family and good times. Her work at Marsh Grocery reminded me of you working at one of the Marsh’s in Muncie while we were at Ball State.
Although I don’t stay in touch, I think of you and Deb often!! I hope that all is well with both of you!!
Sincerely,
Gretchen Gobble
