Obituary
Katherine A. Omlor, 73, of Fort Wayne, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023. Born on October 21, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Patricia (Cass) Sturm. Katherine was a graduate of Bishop Luers High School in Fort Wayne. She worked at North American Van Lines and also as a buyer for Nobbson Women’s Clothing Store. It was at North American Van Lines where she met her husband, Richard “Dick” Omlor. Together they spent the next 48 years building a life together in Fort Wayne and watching their family grow. Family was most important to Katherine, and being a homemaker was her most important job. When not working, she enjoyed walks with her husband, cooking, traveling, and especially shopping. She loved being a grandmother and cherished spending time with the grandkids, never missing a holiday or one of their events. Katherine will be deeply missed by family and friends alike. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Kyle (Melissa), Michael (Shauna), and Daniel Omlor; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Frederick (Mary), Paul (Kelly), and John (Laura) Sturm; sisters, Barbara (William) Berghoff and Margaret Sturm; and several nieces and nephews. Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Omlor; infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann Omlor; her parents; brothers, Michael and Joseph (Allison) Sturm; and sister, Sharon (George) Kaseric. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46825 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805 with a rosary beginning at 4:30 p.m. Memorials can be written to Matthew 25, St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen, and to Bishop Dwenger High School for tuition assistance in Katherine’s name.

Thoughts and prayers to your family.
Mike and I are so very sorry for your loss! You will be in our prayers. God Bless! Tonya
I partially grew up at the Sturm’s residence in Fort Wayne and got to know Katy pretty well!
I was really a friend of Sharon’s, but her big sister was cool!!!
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with the entire Omler and Sturm family as they lay Katy to rest!
My condolences
Barbara (Shank) Richards
To Katie’s family,
One of our St. John the Baptist grade school friends and bishop luers high school friends too.
Your family lived in Woodhurst subdivision, my family on Fairfield Avenue.
When I was secretary at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception parish is when I became aware
of what was going on with you health wise and what a great help your son Kyle was to you as well as
other family and friends helping from far and wide.
You are at peace now and suffering no more.
Remembering the good times always.
Hugs!!
