Obituary
JOSEPH J. ULLE III, 85, of Fort Wayne, went home to be with the Lord and his family that went before him on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born Nov. 23, 1937, in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Elizabeth (Peha) Ulle. He was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church. He joined the Navy in 1954, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in 1974. After his service in the U.S. Navy, he then worked for the Penn Central/ConRail Railroad until 1978 and Dana Corp. from 1978 until 2000. He was a Shriner, Knight Templar and Mason of the York Rite. Joseph is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Lowery Austin and Sheryl (Michael) Dote; four sons, David W. (Mary Ellen) McKulle, Russell Ulle, Steven Ulle, Joseph J. (Heather) Ulle IV, and Charles Scardino; grandchildren, Emma, Todd, Nicole, Christopher, Brandon, Crystal, Matthew, Erica, Colton, Danielle, Shane; and others, and four great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his devoted and beloved wife, Emma J. Ulle; sister, Elizabeth J. Gabrick; and son, Stephen L. Lowery. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 1500 W. State Blvd., Fort Wayne. The family will gather prior to the funeral service from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Visitation also from2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the funeral home, with the Rosary recited at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorial contributions may be made to Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
