Oh Daddy, I thought by now I’d be strong enough to put my cherished memories of you into words without so many tears, but as I sit here I realize that time will never come. I miss you and Mom so much, but with your passing it seems especially hard knowing you are both gone. The blessing is that you are forever together in Heaven with Jesus, each other, Michael, and all our family who have gone before you. You were the best Dad and provided everything your family needed. Thank you for your hard work over so many years to make sure we had a good home, education, and the fun memories at the lake on one of your many boats. I am so glad I was able to spend the last several years in Fort Wayne close to you and Mom. We spent many “happy” hours together and I learned so much about you from the stories you and Mom would share, sometimes reluctantly, but think you knew by this time I was old enough to handle the crazy antics of your youth. I loved every minute of those visits and those with you over the last couple years. Thank you Daddy for always being there for us kids, for your patience, understanding, support, and most of all your love. Your faith has been an example of how the Lord draws us near at different times in our life. You served the church in many ministries with a… Read more »

We are so sorry for your loss.
My dad wasn’t perfect, but he was perfect for our family. He was strong, tough, gentle, fun, funny, patient, understanding, smart and lovable. He would always guide us to do the right thing, no one did. He kept trying and finally a few of us turned out ok. We tested his patience (we being Michele, Tom and Sue) but he never broke, then Dave tested it again, still not losing his patience, not completely anyway. You knew he was upset when you heard the words “good grief”, but that was as bad as it got. My dad gave us the freedom to make our own choices and if it wasn’t a good choice, mom would support us! He always dressed as if “walking off a yacht”, but he never judged others.
I’ll miss my dad more than I can put into words. He lived a good long life and I know he’s in heaven with my mom. She’s playing Rummy and he’s drinking wine. I’m really grateful I got the chance to spend his last few days on earth with him. I’ve heard many stories about him in the last few days that are new to me. I think he’ll be the life of the party in heaven!
Dear Mark and family. Jim and I express our deepest sympathy in the passing of your father, who is Jim’s cousin. Jim is Kermit and Madeline Steenport’s son. We reside in Eagle River, Wi. Just thought you would like knowing the family connection.
