Obituary
John A “Jack” Schenkel, 83, of Fort Wayne, died November 9, 2017, at home surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born in Fort Wayne, went to Central Catholic High School, and graduated from the University of Notre Dame. He started Shawnee Construction in 1968. Jack was past president of the Fort Wayne Notre Dame Club and was also its Man of the Year. He was one of the founders and principal of the CCD program at St. Charles Parish and served on numerous non-profit boards of directors such as West Central Neighborhood, Boys and Girls Club and others. He was also a member of the Downtown Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, and Sertoma. Jack is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret; sons, John (Tammie) Schenkel, Jr., Dan (Susie) Schenkel of Colorado, Matt (Susan) Schenkel, David (Lisa) Schenkel; daughters, Judy (Jim) Bridges of Big Long Lake, Susan Schenkel Logan, Elizabeth (Kirk) Parker of Colorado; and brother, Don (Caroline) Schenkel; sister, Sally Eckrich; and 41 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, William F. and Georgia R. Schenkel; siblings, Art Schenkel, Jim Schenkel; and grandchildren, Theresa Marie Logan and Charlie Schenkel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 1515 Barthold with calling one hour prior. Visitation will be held Monday November 13, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorial contributions may be made to: Most Precious Blood Catholic Church or the Boys and Girls Club of Fort Wayne.

To the entire Schenkel family, I send my thoughts and prayers. I am so happy that I met your dad and mom many years ago! You are blessed to have such a devoted family and many years of happiness at the lake house. Thinking of you all today as you are celebrating his wonderful life!
