We lived across the street from Jack and Mary Helen on Mill Ridge. Lynn and Jim were next door to them at the time too. How we enjoyed our neighbors there but the O’Brians were favorites of many. I loved talking to both of them and we both missed them so much when we returned to Illinois after only four years living across from the. Jack saved my husbands life by suspecting he had celiac disease as he was misdiagnosed in the hospital here. He advised we get him back to Chicago area where he was diagnosed at Northwestern and was near death at the time as he was being given things that had gluten in them. If not for Jack, he would have never lived. Jack and Mary Helen we so loved you and we are so glad you are in a better place and out of this crazy world. God bless you their dear family. Dr. O’Brian was our family doctor from the day I was born until he retired. I remember his practice being located at the corner of Anthony & Washington Blvd. before he moved to the Lake Avenue location. I also remember him coming to our house when I had the German measles and a chronic sore throat. Dr. O’Brian was a wonderful doctor always showed such care for my family. Just the other day I mentioned to my cousin, I wander where Dr. O’Brian was and how he was doing. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. May God Be With You At This Most Difficult Time.

Jack was a loving friend and a wonderful father figure. I truly was blessed to know him and be a part of his family. You will be greatly missed.
Many years ago Kathy and I went to visit her parents in Arizona. While walking with her dad he said ” make them say hello”. I often think of him saying that when I go walking and with a smile on my face say hello to everyone I pass. He is now upstairs with his wings saying hello to everyone he passes. A great memory!!
Dr. O’Brian delivered my twin sister Paula and me. We were his first set of twins he delivered. He always remembered our birthday. If he seen us in the office or outside of the office, he would wish us a Happy Birthday. He was a great doctor and a wonderful person. He took care of our family. From our parents, our brothers and sisters, to our children. He will truly be missed and in our hearts forever. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
Dr. OBrian was our family physician from the time I was a little boy and cared for my parents into their old age. Our family was a working class family so the only exposure I had to a to a professional was visiting the doctor. I was always impressed and fascinated by the demeanor and professionalism exhibited by Dr. OBrian. He was truly an inspiration and role model for me. I recently retired from a successful career as a family dentist and tried to emulate the professionalism that I saw in my boyhood doctor, Dr. OBrian. He was the epitome of a wonderful family doctor.
My sister and I were the first set of twins Dr. O’Brien delivered. He was our family doctor for many years. Never had there been a kinder, better doctor than Dr. O’Brian. My sympathies to his family.
