Obituary
Gregory L. Miller, 69, of Fort Wayne, died Friday, May 10, 2024. Greg was born in Fort Wayne on September 19, 1954, the son of Donald (Jr.) and Laura (Gottfried) Miller of Fort Wayne, who survive along with Greg’s wife, Karen Miller; his children, Samuel Miller and Vivian Miller, both of Fort Wayne; stepchildren, Nicholas O’Dell, Katie O’Dell and Samantha O’Dell, all of Fort Wayne; brother, Donald K. (Jan) Miller and sisters, Rhonda Zollinger and Nancy Henline, all of Fort Wayne.
Greg graduated from Bishop Luers High School with the Class of ’73. After high school Greg pursued a career in law enforcement, serving on the Allen County Sheriff’s Dept. for 42 years. From 1975-1978, Greg served as a Civilian Confinement Officer. In 1978, he was sworn into the Academy by Sheriff Bud Meeks and from 1980-1983 he served as a Confinement Officer. From 1984-1990 Greg worked in the Traffic Division and then from 1990-2003 in the Warrants Division. From 2003-2007, (he was promoted to Corporal in 2007), and from 2007 until his retirement in 2017 he worked in the Traffic Division. Greg also worked in the Renaissance Bldg. in downtown Ft Wayne as a Security Guard at the Information Desk. He missed his partners from the Sheriff’s Department and had hopes of getting together with them again. Greg loved his family and enjoyed the time spent with Karen, travelling in their RV. He was a very caring man and had such a love for life; he was the best husband anyone could ask for. Greg made an impact on countless people over the years and will be greatly missed by many.
The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30am on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Rd. with visitation from 9:30-10:30am in the church. Visitation also on Monday from 4-7pm at Divine Mercy Lake Avenue Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. Greg will be laid to rest in Catholic Cemetery.
