David Powell, 80, of New Haven died July 24, 2022, in, New Haven. David was born June 19, 1942, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of the Late George and Stella (Massie) Powell. He married Christine (Hull) Powell, who survives, on May 30, 1980. David and Christine had resided in Gallatin, TN for 35 years. David was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He never met a stranger and was a friend to all. He was a member of Saint Jude Catholic Church, American Legion Post #330, Knights of Columbus St. Jude Council 16065 and a former Member of St. John McVianney Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #10010 in Gallatin, TN. He also served in the United States Navy, on the USS Diachenko, during the Vietnam War. He retired as a Production Supervisor from Imperial Fabrication, Portland, TN. He was an avid fan of Ohio State, the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Reds, I.U. Basketball and Nascar. Surviving along with his wife are sons Jeff (DeEtta) Powell, Rod (Charlene) Powell, John (Rachel) Moor; daughter, Leslie (Mark) Corral; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. David was preceded in death by daughter, Debbie Powell and ten siblings. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, with visitation one hour prior to the service, Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Saint Jude Catholic Church, 2130 Pemberton DR with calling one hour prior. Visitation also, Friday, July 29, 2022, from 4:00 pm – 8:00pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, with vigil service 4:30pm. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery with US Navy Honors. Memorial contributions may be made to: Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
