Obituary
David Maher, 80 passed away, Sunday, February 5, 2023, at the Canterbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Ft. Wayne, IN. Born August 3, 1942, in Detroit, MI, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Margaret (Lefebvre) Maher. He married Barbara Ann (Sieger) on April 18,1964. He was a graduate of Visitation High School, Detroit, MI in 1960. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, Ft. Wayne. David obtained a B.A. at the Center for Creative Studies, Detroit, MI in Graphic, Industrial and Product Design. He worked for AMT (1962-1963), American Motors, Kelvinator Design Division and American Motors, Automotive, Interior and Exterior Design from 1963 – 1973, Navistar (International Harvester) 1973-1974. He owned his own business “The Drawing Board” and “Maher Design” as an Independent, freelance contractor, designer for several years. David also worked for Ohio Art (Product Design), Monaco Coach (Director of Design), Navistar (Industrial Design) and retired when Navistar moved to Illinois. He enjoyed, golf, bowling, playing cards, his family, cottage vacations and always ready for a fun time and a great sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Heather; son, Sean; grandson, Zachary; granddaughter, Angelica “Angie” Maher. Also surviving are his brother, Brian (Darcy) Maher of Livonia, MI; sisters, Marilyn (Dave) Lang of White House, TN, Kathy (Doug) Hohman of White Lake, MI, Denise (Dennis) Juras of Wixom, MI, Janice (Jan) Maher of Kentwood, MI; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am, Saturday, February 18, 2023, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Rd. Ft. Visitation also 3:00 – 8:00 pm Friday, February 17, 2023, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Ft. Wayne, with a Rosary recited at 3:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Services of NE Indiana, Alzheimer's Association, or the A.S.P.C.A.
