Obituary
David B. Farragh, 65, of North Shores MI and formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Dave was born in Michigan on July 21, 1958, the son of (the late) Gordon and Eugenia Farragh. He was a talented athlete, playing football in high school (State Champions) and also at Northwood University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree and also where he met the love of his life, Gail (Peters) Farragh. Dave and Gail were married on August 23, 1980; she survives along with their children, Tony (Charlotte) Farragh and Megan (Wade DeLonge) Farragh; grandchildren, Harper, Weston and Jack; his brother, Michael (Khristi) Farragh; sisters, Susan (Marvin) Rivers, Elizabeth Farragh, several nieces & nephews and many, many friends.
Dave was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and hikes along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Also a talented cook and known as a “foodie”, he enjoyed gatherings at their home, feeding family & friends and enjoying the times spent together. Dave was affectionately known as “Pops” to his grandchildren who knew he was their #1 fan, often travelling distances to make their soccer games. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, amazing dad to his three children, wonderful Pops and caring brother and friend.
Dave, Gail, and their young family had relocated to Fort Wayne in 1982 and were active at Our Lady of Good Hope and St. Charles Borromeo parishes. Tragically, their 5-year-old daughter Erin Farragh, died unexpectedly in 1989 and is buried in Fort Wayne in Catholic Cemetery. Dealing with their heartbroken children and soon realizing that there were very few resources specifically dealing with the unique form of grief experienced by children, Erin’s family, along with the aid and assistance of good friends, and members of the Fort Wayne community, began the journey to create a much-needed facility to assist children through the grief process. Named in memory of Erin Farrah, Erin’s House for Grieving Children opened in 1993 and has been a respected and cherished institution in Fort Wayne ever since.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Dave in Grand Haven MI on Wednesday morning, May 29, 2024, at 10:00am in SS. Patrick & Anthony Catholic Church, with arrangements through the Lee Chapel of Systema Funeral Service, Norton Shores, MI.
In Fort Wayne, visitation is scheduled for Thursday May 30, from 5-7 pm at Divine Mercy Lake Avenue Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. Dave will be laid to rest in Catholic Cemetery, alongside his beloved daughter Erin, at 10:00am Friday May 31 with Fr. Timothy Wrozek officiating the committal service. Dear Gail and family,
I’m just learning of Dave’s passing on the local news. I am beyond sad for you and please know my thoughts and prayers are with you. May God comfort you in your loss and strengten you in your grief. When I think of you and the circumstances of how we met in CRHP so many years ago, so many memories come to mind, not the least of are what beautiful, loving, open people you and Dave were. You remain a sweet memory to this day. I am holding you close in prayer.
Your Sister in Christ,
Pauline LeMay ❤
I just learned of Dave’s passing. My condolences to the family. I knew Dave as a wonderful son, friend, husband and father. It’s been a lifetime since our paths crossed but I know Dave would have been the first to extend a handshake and welcome an old industry friend. All my best, Mike Mulcahy
