Obituary
Cathy L. Savieo, age 71, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Born on February 1, 1953, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late James and Opal Mae (Bricker) Hamrick. Cathy was married to her husband, James “Jim” Savieo for 47 years. Taking care of her family was her most important job. She enjoyed gardening, playing softball, swimming, and spending time at the beach in the sun. Cathy loved to take walks and enjoy nature, especially at the lake. Above all, she loved her family and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her friendly, outgoing, “Chatty Cathy” personality. Cathy’s family will deeply miss her great sense of humor, as she was often the “trickster” and practical joker of the family. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jim Savieo; children, Stefanie Savieo, Brian (Ashley) Savieo, Michael (Beth) Savieo, Michelle Savieo, and Misty (Dave) Volmerding; grandchildren, Jessica Savieo, John Savieo, Brandon Volmerding, Kierstin Volmerding, Jackie Savieo, and Wyatt Savieo; great-grandson, Colby Volmerding; brother, James (Linda) Hamrick; and sister, Patricia (Hollitte) Greene. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805 with a Rosary beginning at 2:30 p.m. Cathy will be laid to rest at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials can be written to Eleos Hospice Care and Lutheran Life Villages.

Cathy was my older first cousin
She was so much fun Always laughing and kind to the youngest, me.
She played a wicked game of spoons around their kitchen table and helped make our family holiday dinners fun
I was so happy she remembered me when I visited her this year
RIP Cathy You were one of the good ones
Much love and lots of wonderful childhood memories

Prayers to you and your family.
Prayers for Jim and family. One of my favorite memories of many was when Cathy and I visited Essex after we were no longer employed there and pregnant with Stef and Alex. We ran into Mr Bruce in hallway and he asked what we were up too. We just looked at our bellies and laughed. I also remember a great time in Colorado. So many happy memories.
Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
The perfect sister, didnt pester big brother unless invited to join in. A wonderful Aunt to her nieces remembering birthdays and holidays with cards and trinkets. She stayed in contact with Big brother Jim during the travels around the world as a member of the USAF for 20 years. We always had a special bond. Rest in Peace .
