Byron J. Wyss, 82, of Fort Wayne died April 11, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, IN. Byron was born November 3, 1935 in Fort Wayne to the late Joseph and Helen Wyss. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and Purdue University. He was an engineer for ITT, Eckrich Meats and Phelps Dodge, retiring in 1998. Byron was a member of Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and volunteered as a greeter at the Fort Wayne International Airport. His passion has always been building and showing model airplanes as a member of I P M S for many years. Byron is survived by his wife of 62 years Suzanne Wyss; sons, Charles (Elaine) Wyss, James (Teresa) Wyss, Joseph and Thomas Wyss all of Fort Wayne; grandchildren Erika, Adam, Kyle, Ryan, Ashley, Victoria, Devin and Colten; great grandchildren Parker and Rylee. Byron was preceded in death by his brother Louis Wyss. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am, Monday, April 16, 2018 at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Rd with calling one hour prior. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 15, 2018, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne with a vigil at 3:30 pm. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorial contributions may be made to St Charles Catholic Church Building Fund or Masses.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Byron. He was a dedicated Volunteer Host at the Fort Wayne International Airport, and served the airport and its customers with distinction. His passion for model airplanes is commendable and he even shared some of those with us. He will be definitely missed. Goodbyes are not forever. They are not the end. It simply means we’ll miss them until we meet again.
