Obituary
ANNE MARIE METTLER, 70, died Sunday afternoon, Dec. 16, 2018, in Tampa, Fla. at home. She was a daughter of the late Don and Carroll Mettler, the fifth of their six children. Anne deeply loved her husband of 38 years, Dick Pfister; her daughters, Abby and Emily; and cherished her granddaughter, Julia Anne. She and Dick moved to Tampa in 2013 to be close to their daughters and Julia. Anne was full of life and passion. She was a gracious hostess and loved entertaining, always happiest when her extended family was near. Her home and pool were open to family, friends, and anyone they brought along. She was a great shopper – her gift-giving is legendary in the family, as well as her generosity to others. “She was the best person to have with you if you were sick, or needed a good hug or a shoulder to cry on.” She was an avid reader, and travelled throughout the United States, the Caribbean, England, and Ireland. Cozumel was her favorite place on the planet. She was an advocate for equality for women; loved to dance; and played softball until she was 40. Anne’s passing will be mourned by her brothers and sisters, Michael, Steve (Kathy), Connie, and Meg Mettler; 18 Mettler, McLaughlin, and Pfister nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Sharon McLaughlin; brother-in-law, Ed Pfister; and in-laws, Kathy Sharp and Beth Mettler. Also, her friends from St. Jude’s, Central Catholic, and IPFW; Florida Drive and Timberbrook neighbors; and her selfless women friends from St. Vincent’s, who provided love, food, and prayers. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Rick. Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at noon at St. Vincent Catholic Church, with calling one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. Interment to follow service at Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen, or to the family for the education of Julia Anne Gloy.

To Anne’s family – I enjoyed being with Anne throughout these many years since High School. Always an inspiration. I am sad that I will not be able to attend her funeral Mass (because of my work schedule) but will keep all in my thoughts and prayers. I’m sure that God has a very special place in Heaven for Anne for all the good that she did in this life, and for all the sufferings that she endured too.
Dick, So Sorry for your loss! Thinking of you and your family and praying you find peace in wonderful memories. Chris Rowe, Charleston Metal Products
