Aunt Helen always had such a positive attitude. That is what I remember most about her and of course, all of the fun family visits since I was young. Aunt Helen had such a great sense of humor, and always had a way of looking on the bright side. Always treated me as if I was one of her own💕
We are very lucky to have mothers who lived until their mid nineties and now we have them both and our dear fathers up in Heaven joined together in prayer for us all🙏All my heart and prayers are there for you. I love you all💕
Nix Family:
What a pleasure in knowing your Mom. She was always caring, family oriented, and strong. No wonder she lived to the lovely age of 96 years. She is the end of an era that the nieces and nephews will never forget. I remember all the visits to Fort Wayne and family reunions. She was blessed to have you all, and she was the glue that kept us all informed. Our thought and prayers are with you.
Love,

As the California nephew, our visits to Fort Wayne were few but always memorable with Uncle Zeno an Aunt Helen. Their house was full of action with the family parties in the backyard and hanging out with all the cousins. From bread starter sent to us in Arizona, monster cookies and Sunday waffles with them, their first retirement trip with a stop over in our home in Alabama, Aunt Helen was always ready to be present with her welcoming spirit. Will miss talking with Aunt Helen and hearing about the family and sharing the stories.
You are in my thoughts
I will never forget the time I got to spend with Aunt Helen, fishing, eating, chatting and playing games. She always treated me like family. I will miss her dearly. May she rest in peace.

Ever since our mothers passed away over twenty years ago, we’ve held on to the other mothers in our lives with great affection — and Helen was certainly one of the greatest. Helen was a great inspiration to me. She was a close friend of my mother-in-law Rita Hoffman, and they went on a vacation to Italy together, touring the ancient catacombs. I ran across a book of pictures and postcards from that trip some years ago and was just astonished. Sometimes the lives of the people we know are so much larger than we realize. I smile and wonder what kinds of international mischief those two 1960s – 1970s housewives got themselves into. Helen was a Berghoff, and was related to the family that began The Berghoff, a German restaurant in Chicago. Along the way, she married Zeno Nix, who spent his working life at GTE. They had eight children and an entire tribe of grands and great-grands. She always impressed me as a woman of great faith who truly had a touch of class.. As I say, she inspired me in a number of ways. That child-like fascination I have with my little porcelain Christmas nativity set? Helen introduced me to the practice of having the Holy Family and especially those poor Wise Men traveling all over the room until the moment they were supposed to arrive at the stable. She managed to have all of those kids– good kids — and yet, she remained her own person,… Read more »
